Adventure Awaits
— Manzanita —
Manzanita is located just a few miles south of Arch Cape in the shadow of Neahkahnie Mountain. The short trip to this cute little beach community offers breathtaking views of Nehalem Bay and is well worth the drive. For the outdoor enthusiasts, there are two well-marked trails to the top of the mountain. They are relatively easy hikes that can be accessed using either the North or South Trailheads located just off the 101 (Oregon Coast Highway). In town, enjoy tourist shops, clothing boutiques, a small grocery store, a café, and a handful of locally-owned restaurants. For the casual golfer you can try a few swings at Manzanita Golf Links, a short, but fun 9-hole course with a par of 32. A few of our favorite things include Yolk Restaurant, Unfurl Clothing and Gift Shop, Cloud & Leaf Bookstore and, of course, walks along this idyllic beach.
— Canon Beach —
If you are short on time, this quintessential ocean community with its long, sandy shore is only a few minutes north of Arch Cape and is the home of Haystack Rock. Sandwiched between the beach and the Oregon Coast Highway, this area brings together everything you want in an oceanside town. An inspiration to sculptors, artists, and painters, it was included on the list of 100 most beautiful places in the world by National Geographic in 2013. Be sure and take S. Hemlock Street if traveling north on the 101 to catch some often missed shops and eateries just south of the downtown. Fresh Foods Marketplace is the grocery store of choice for locals and is worth a stop. A few of our favorite things in Canon Beach include Sesame + Lillies Interior Design Store, The Canon Beach Chocolate Cafe, Ecola State Park, and Insomnia Coffee.
— Seaside —
When you’re tired of strolling the sand and sidestepping the tide, the carnival-like atmosphere of Seaside awaits. Have a hankering for a corn dog? What about bruising up some bumper cars, riding a carousel, or taking a spin on a Tilt-a-whirl? About 30 minutes north of Arch Cape, the resort town of Seaside offers a variety of fun activities for the entire family. Tour the streets on a Surrey built for four, cruise the inland waterways on a paddle boat in the shape of a swan, or test your nerve at the High Life Adventure Park. Don’t forget to pick up a book at Beach Books, and no trip to Seaside would be complete without feeding the seals. Cap it all off by taking a picture with the Lewis and Clark monument, and grabbing a late lunch at Pizza a’fetta. A few of our favorite things include Seaside Aquarium, Gearhart Golf Links, Beach Books, and the Arcade.
